Brand Identity

Client: Tony's Tropical Plants

Sector: Exotic Gardening

Brief
Tony’s Tropical Garden is a small, local plant grower specialising in rare and unusual tropical plants that are difficult to find in the UK. The business sells directly to customers, creating a personal and community-focused experience rather than a large retail environment. The goal of the project was to design a logo that reflects the exotic nature of the plants while remaining friendly, approachable, and inviting for local customers. The identity needed to clearly communicate that Tony grows tropical species, using visual cues that reference the shapes and character of the plants themselves. The design also needed to feel vibrant and lively to reflect the lush environments these plants originate from.

Solution
The final logo is built around the letter “T”, representing both Tony and Tropical, creating a simple but distinctive core for the identity. The letterform is integrated with stylised shapes inspired by the leaves and forms of the plants Tony grows, subtly referencing tropical foliage while keeping the mark clean and recognisable.

To reinforce the theme of lush growth, the colour palette focuses on leafy greens and vibrant tropical tones, helping the brand feel fresh, energetic, and full of life. These colours reflect the plants themselves and create a strong visual connection to the natural environment Tony cultivates.

The overall style is playful and welcoming, supporting Tony’s direct-to-customer approach and local community presence. The logo is designed to feel approachable rather than overly commercial, encouraging curiosity and making the brand memorable for plant enthusiasts.

As this was a test project, the visual identity focuses primarily on the logo and a core colour palette. In a full project, the palette could be expanded further to support additional brand applications such as packaging, signage, social media, and promotional materials while maintaining the same vibrant and tropical character.
